Police recover TVs, gift cards purchased in counterfeit scheme

Wichita police said today they continue to look for two people involved in a counterfeiting scheme that has already landed two others in jail.

Sgt. Bart Brunscheen said police were called to the Super Target at 10800 E. 21st St. Friday morning after workers discovered counterfeit $20, $50 and $100 bills were used to buy three flat-screen televisions and two gaming systems.

Target workers were able to provide police with a license plate number of the car used by the suspects. Two 21-year-old women were arrested.

"It turns out they purchased so many items they had been given some complimentary gift cards," Brunscheen said. "The gift cards were also recovered."

He said police are looking for two other suspects, including a 36-year-old man.
