Bomb threat leads to lockdown at Wesley Medical Center

WICHITA — Wesley Medical Center's emergency room went into lockdown for about 40 minutes this morning after a recent patient phoned in a bomb threat, Wichita police said.

The man, who had been treated in the emergency room, said he was going to make a bomb, bring it to the hospital and detonate it. He called the hospital at about 4:25 a.m. today.

The hospital was searched, but no bomb was found, police said.

Investigators were able to identify the 49-year-old who made the bomb threat. He was taken to Via Christi-St. Joseph for a mental evaluation.
