WICHITA — A woman posing as a police officer forced her way into a south Wichita home Thursday night, assaulted the 95-year-old man who lives there and robbed him.
She knocked on the victim's door at about 9:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of South Erie and asked to come in, claiming she was a cop, police said. The man did not open the door, but asked to see identification.
The impostor showed him a card through a window, but he still refused to let her in. She then broke the door frame and forced her way inside, shoving the man onto a couch.
She went to his bedroom, where she stole his wallet and property from a dresser drawer before leaving, police said.
The suspect is a black woman in her 30s who is 6 feet tall and about 190 pounds. She has short brown hair and brown eyes, and was wearing a long-sleeve white T-shirt and a multicolored coat.
