A fire early today caused extensive damage to a house in northeast Kansas City, Kan., possibly injuring one of the residents.
The fire broke out about 3:35 a.m. today in a single-story wood-frame house in the 200 block of South 8th Street. As firefighters arrived, two people who live at the house left. Bystanders told fire fighters that one of the people might have been burned.
Thick black smoke poured from the house and flames shot up from the front portion of the house, according to fire officials. The fire was being called suspicious.
The fire caused about $30,000 in damage to the house.
