One dies, two hurt in KCK wreck

A collision late Friday killed one motorist in Kansas City, Kan., and sent a passenger and a driver to the hospital.

The 10:10 p.m. accident at North 65th Street and Turner Diagonal involved a brown Ford Explorer that crossed a median as it headed south, striking a white northbound Jeep, police said.

The driver of the Jeep was taken to an area hospital, where he later died of his injuries. His identity was not released pending family notification.

A passenger in the Jeep was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.

The driver of the brown Explorer was taken to an area hospital to be treated for what authorities called non-life-threatening injuries.

The incident is under investigation by the Kansas City, Kan., Police Department's Traffic Support Unit/Critical Collision Response Team.
