A Stilwell, Kan., man died from injuries received in a crash late Friday near Lake of the Ozarks.
Christian P. Simmons, 41, was driving west on Red Hollow Road near Cook Road in Morgan County when his 1997 Mercedes ran off the right side of the road at 10:38 p.m., according to the Missouri Highway Patrol. The car rotated counterclockwise, striking a tree and ejecting Simmons. The car then struck another tree and landed on top of Simmons in a dry creek bed. Simmons, who was not wearing a seat belt, was flown by helicopter to University Hospital in Columbia, where he was pronounced dead at 12:49 a.m. Saturday.
A passenger, 44-year-old Joseph L. Coch, of Kirkwood, Mo., was taken to Lake Regional Hospital in Osage Beach with moderate injuries. He was wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol report.
