Former K-State football player Patton put on probation

MANHATTAN | Former Kansas State University football player Leon Patton was sentenced to 18 months probation for aggravated battery involving his infant son.

Patton was sentenced Monday for the July 2008 incident in which he shook his son.

The no contest plea also included a charge of simple battery regarding a domestic incident in May.

Patton was the team's leading rusher in 2007. He was suspended from the team by then-coach Ron Prince after his arrest.
