Meth lab found in south Wichita residence

WICHITA — Acting on a phone tip, police found and cleaned up a suspected meth lab in south Wichita on Wednesday night.

A 27-year-old woman called police at about 9 p.m. to say her boyfriend was making meth in his residence in the 3100 block of South Clifton.

Officers detected a strong chemical smell consistent with meth production, and the clandestine meth cleanup team was sent to the scene.

They found equipment and materials commonly used for making meth in the house, but the 28-year-old suspect had left the area. Police are still looking for him.
