County officials say Lake Jacomo water is fine

Jackson County officials will not post warning signs at Lake Jacomo today after test results showed that E. coli levels were well within acceptable standards, a county spokesman said.

Jeph Burroughs-Scanlon said the samples were taken Saturday and the results came back this morning. More samples are being taken today for testing, but Burroughs-Scanlon said there is no danger to people celebrating Labor Day weekend at the lake.

There were concerns Saturday that Lake Jacomo might have been contaminated after a sewage spill tainted Prairie Lee Lake, which is connected to Lake Jacomo. Warning signs were posted at Prairie Lee Lake.
