Liberty man arrested after pedestrian is hit, killed

A 23-year-old Liberty man is in jail pending charges after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle early today on Vivion Road at Northwest Frontier Street. Three other people were also struck and taken to area hospitals.

Northmoor Police Chief Larry Davis said a group of people got into a fight about 2 a.m. The suspect then got into a Jeep Cherokee and allegedly ran into four people standing on the roadside. The front of the vehicle had extensive damage.

The suspect is being held in the Platte County Jail.

The identity of the man who was killed has not been released. One of the injured persons is reportedly in intensive care.

The Missouri Highway Patrol is investigating the case.
