Transit riders are now going to be on par with freeway commuters.
Starting today, Kansas City will provide e-mail alerts to bus riders, reminding them when their next bus is arriving and whether it’s late. Bus riders also can go to the bus agency’s Web site to track the bus as it traverses city streets.
The service, by the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, is very similar to what Kansas City Scout offers to drivers on the area’s interstate system.
A year ago, Scout started sending e-mails and text messages to drivers telling them about traffic jams on major interstates
