WICHITA — A fire late Monday night caused about $150,000 in damage to a South Woodlawn apartment building, a fire official said today.
The fire, at the Ashbury Court apartments, 1940 S. Woodlawn, was reported around 11:23 p.m.
The fire, which damaged a 20-unit apartment building, remains under investigation, said fire Capt. Stuart Bevis. Not all of the units were occupied, he said.
Investigators were still interviewing residents.
The local American Red Cross so far has assisted 20 people displaced by the fire, said agency spokesman James Williams. They are receiving shelter, food or clothing, Williams said.
The Red Cross determines aid case by case, he said.
Anyone affected by the fire can call the Red Cross at 316-219-4000.
