Sobriety checkpoint yields 25 DUI arrests

A sobriety checkpoint set up by police at a busy Northland intersection overnight Friday stopped more than 1,700 vehicles during a six-hour period and resulted in 25 arrests for drunk driving.

Officers from the Kansas City Police Department were assisted by the Missouri Highway Patrol at the checkpoint at Interstate 35 and Chouteau Trafficway. Northbound traffic was stopped from 10 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Saturday. Besides the DUI arrests, there were 17 other motorists charged with other crimes.
