A Lee’s Summit man wanted on sodomy charges was arrested Tuesday night in Texas.
Authorities in Port Isabel, near Brownsville, apprehended Benjamin F. Wolkey after a brief vehicle pursuit.
Booking photographs taken Tuesday and in March indicate that Wolkey significantly changed his appearance, said Mike Childs of the Lee’s Summit Police Department.
“It is very evident that he was changing his appearance to avoid apprehension,” he said.

In March, Lee’s Summit police had issued a press release requesting assistance in finding Wolkey, 36. Authorities were looking for him in connection with a January statutory sodomy offense involving a 6-year-old girl.
Lee’s Summit police believed Wolkey had fled the Kansas City area. They soon discovered that Wolkey was staying in Mexico to avoid apprehension, Childs said.
A Lee’s Summit detective made contact with Port Isabel police regarding Wolkey’s possible presence in the Texas border community.
“They did a lot of phone, e-mail and file sharing,” Childs said.
Wolkey remained in custody Wednesday awaiting extradition.
