Armed man robs hotel on Broadway in Wichita

WICHITA — An armed man tried to rob a South Broadway motel early this morning — but the motel clerk wouldn't cooperate, police said.

The man came into the Paradise Inn at 2020 S. Broadway just after 4 a.m. with a small black revolver in his hand and demanded money from the register, police said. But the clerk refused to open the register, so the suspect grabbed a small amount of money from the counter and left.

The clerk said the robber was a black man between 25 and 35, about 6 feet tall and 175 pounds. He was wearing a black shirt, black pants and had a red bandanna around his neck.
