Starting today, drivers using 99th Terrace through Overland Park should watch their foot on the gas pedal.
Police will be working longer shifts to crack down on speeders using this collector street linking Antioch and Switzer roads. The road has been getting heightened attention since a 70-year-woman was killed when she was hit by a van as she gardened in her front yard.
Neighbors in the area have been pleading with the city to take action to slow down traffic on 99th Terrace. The speed limit on 99th Terrace is 25 mph between Antioch and Carter and 30 mph between Switzer and Carter.
The crash that killed Sandra Carocari is still under investigation, although speed was not a ruled a factor.
