Two Missouri teens drown in separate incidents

HUNTSDALE, Mo. | A Columbia teen drowned Saturday after trying to rescue a younger boy who had been swept away by the Missouri River current.

The Missouri State Water Patrol says the 15-year-old victim was able to push an 8-year-old to safety, then got swept away himself about a mile downriver from the Huntsdale boat ramp. His body was found moments after he disappeared underwater, but he couldn't be revived.

Also Saturday, a Golden, Mo., teen drowned while swimming at Table Rock Lake.

The Water Patrol says 17-year-old Travy James IV was swimming when he complained he couldn't keep going. A friend grabbed his arm but James couldn't hang on and slipped underwater.
