Police this morning released the identity of the Kansas City parks and recreation employee who died Saturday while mowing inside Jerry Smith Park.
Charles Grant, 56, of Kansas City, was found trapped between a large commercial mower and a tree sometime between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at the park near 137th Street and Prospect Avenue. Grant was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jackson County medical examiner.
Police do not suspect foul play and have said Grant may have had a heart attack. Police spokesman Darin Snapp said autopsy results won’t be available until Monday.
