South Kansas City residents who need to use Missouri 150 this weekend should reconsider their route.
Highway crews will close the highway in both directions at midnight tonight so the northbound U.S. 71 bridge can be removed. The closure will last until 5 a.m. Monday.
Eastbound traffic will be detoured to the southbound ramp to U.S. 71 and then to 155th Street. From there, vehicles will be directed to the outer road of northbound 71 back to eastbound Missouri 150.
Westbound 150 traffic will detour to the outer road of northbound 71 up to the 140th Street bridge. Drivers can then take the southbound outer road of Route 71 back to westbound 150.
The work is part of a new $21 million interchange being built at that location. It’s one of three interchanges being built or reconstructed along U.S. 71. The Missouri 150 interchange isn’t due to be completed until mid-2010.
