Opponents still want to restrict Kansas adult stores

TOPEKA | Opponents of sexually oriented businesses in Kansas aren't giving up on trying to restrict them.

That's despite a federal lawsuit that blocked enforcement of a law limiting advertising for adult stores along highways.

Attorney General Steve Six has signed an agreement to end that lawsuit, filed against him by attorneys for a store in Abilene. The state won't enforce the law, and the store's attorneys won't try to force the state to pay their fees.

A federal judge already had blocked the law's enforcement in preparation for a trial.

But Phillip Cosby, an Overland Park resident who has led a campaign against adult stores, says he'll push for a new, broader law next year to restrict sexually oriented businesses.
