WICHITA — The ramp linking westbound Kellogg traffic to Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport will be closed for the next three months for bridge repairs.
Motorists will still be able to access the airport from that exit, Kansas Department of Transportation spokesman Tom Hein said, but they'll need to use southbound Ridge Road instead.
"The detour is minor and adds just a few minutes onto travel time to the airport terminal," Hein said in a prepared statement.
The project, estimated to cost nearly $500,000, will include the repair of bridge piers and supports at each end of the structure, expansion joints, driving surface, guard rails and bridge approaches.

A polymer overlay will be applied to the bridge deck to protect the surface from damage caused by water and winter roadway treatment.
Hein said single-lane closures on Kellogg are likely at various points of the project, which is expected to be completed by late October.
