Some sports memorabilia stolen from Wichita bar recovered

WICHITA | Police have recovered some of the more than $50,000 in sports memorabilia stolen from a Wichita bar.

Someone broke into the Players sports bar on July 29, taking two baseballs autographed by Babe Ruth, a rookie Mickey Mantle baseball card and five championship rings, including two from Super Bowls IX and X.

The Wichita Eagle reported on its Web site Friday that Players owner Dave Chaffin said some of the rings have been recovered but wouldn't say which ones. Chaffin said he's afraid he may not be able to recover the other items.

Police Capt. Darrell Haynes says police have identified a suspect and are looking for him. He says recovering the remaining items will depend on how cooperative the suspect is.
