Autopsy set for body found in Wichita park

WICHITA — An autopsy is set for Saturday to determine the cause of death for a man whose body was found in Chappin Park early this morning, police said.

A man who went down to the Arkansas River to fish found the body next to the river in the 3700 block of South Hydraulic at about 6:40 a.m., Lt. Ken Landwehr said.

The body appeared to have been there for one or two days, Landwehr said. Foul play is not suspected, but authorities are waiting for the autopsy to confirm that.

Police have a tentative identification, he said, but relatives have not yet been notified.
