Retired priest injured in crash upgraded; teen still critical

WICHITA — The retired Catholic priest who was injured in a two-vehicle crash southwest of Wichita on Tuesday afternoon has been upgraded to good condition at a local hospital.

The Rev. Marcus Devlin, 81, who goes by his middle name, Kevin, was driving on K-42 shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday when his truck was hit by a Honda Civic driven by 16-year-old Robere Haidar of Goddard, authorities have said.

Haidar was coming east on 63rd Street South and ran a stop sign at the intersection with K-42, authorities said. Both victims were transported to Via Christi Regional Medical Center-St. Francis Campus.

Haidar remains in critical condition, a hospital official said, and visitation is being limited to immediate family members only.
