Burglar foiled by frying pan

WICHITA — When a burglar burst into his house in north Wichita and tried to carry off his television early this morning, the resident fended him off with something not commonly used as a weapon: a frying pan.

The incident unfolded at about 1:15 a.m. in the 700 block of West 22nd North, Capt. Darrell Atteberry said. The suspect kicked open the front door of the house and attempted to take the television when the man who lived there came after him with a frying pan.

Startled, the suspect fled the house, got into a white, two-door car and drove north on Arkansas from the area.
