Man hurt in Tuesday crash remains critical

WICHITA — A 59-year-old man remains in critical condition today after he was hurt in a one-vehicle crash near Derby Tuesday morning.

Rocky Houdek was driving on 95th Street South shortly before 10:45 a.m. Tuesday when he lost control of his pickup near the intersection of Bluff, went off the road, struck a power pole and ended up in a hedgerow, Sedgwick County Sheriff's Capt. George Mason said.

He was unconscious with evidence of a head injury, Mason said. He was flown by air ambulance to Wesley Medical Center for treatment.

"Speed is a possible factor" in the accident, Mason said.
