A big intersection near Johnson County Community College is closing this morning for possibly more than a week.
Starting 7 a.m. today, workers will shut down the intersection at College Boulevard and Quivira Road until Aug. 12. City officials hold out the possibility it might open sooner. The closure is part of a $10 million project to widen two miles of College Boulevard from U.S. 69 to Pflumm Road.
Possible east-west detours include 119th Street to the south or 103rd Street to the north. North-south detours would include Pflumm Road to the west and Antioch Road to the east. U.S. 69 won’t be a good option because of the ramp closures at College.
