Smoke causes hotel evacuation

A midtown hotel was temporarily evacuated Saturday morning after smoke was spotted on the roof. The Kansas City Fire Department was called just before noon to the Holiday Inn hotel, 45th and Main streets in Kansas City.

Hotel guests were told the smoke came from a motor and was quickly dealt with. Lori Hackworth, who was at the hotel attending a convention, said they were told to evacuate the hotel after the smoke was spotted and it was about 10 minutes before they were allowed to return.
