Road closure could affect traffic heading to Missouri lakes

A big traffic delay could be in store for Kansas City-area lake lovers starting next Tuesday.

That’s when the Missouri highway department plans to close the Route 2 Bridge over the Grand River east of Freeman, Mo. The bridge won’t reopen until late August so the bridge deck can be repaired.

The closure stands to affect drivers from south Kansas City or from Johnson County, Kan., who are trying to get to the lake for a vacation.

The route is good way for drivers to get to Stockton, Truman, Pomme DeTerre, Montrose, Table Rock, Bull Shoals and Taneycomo lakes.

A detour for the project can be found on the highway department’s Web site at Click on the Cass County detours.
