Bus fares in Johnson County are going up starting today.
Riders of the popular K-10 connector between Overland Park and Lawrence are going to pay 50 cents more with the increase that was approved by the Johnson County Commission last month. The fare on the K-10 route will now be $3. The cost of 10-ride pass on the connector also is increasing. It will now cost $22.50, up from $15.
Basic service, including routes to downtown Kansas City, will be $2. The trip used cost $1.25 and $1.75.
Fares on intra-city routes in places like Overland Park, Olathe, DeSoto and Shawnee cost $1 a day, but will go to $1 a trip next year.
The last time Johnson County raised fares was 1999.
