Southwest Missouri mayor suspected of DWI

NIXA, Mo. | A southwest Missouri mayor is accused of driving while intoxicated.

A Missouri Highway Patrol arrest report says Nixa Mayor Brian Hayes was arrested early Sunday morning for suspicion of driving while intoxicated, first offense misdemeanor.

A Nixa police officer pulled over Hayes, 42, and then requested help from the patrol.

Hayes was released to a sober driver after he was booked into the Christian County Jail.

No formal charges have been filed as of Tuesday afternoon.
