Storms down trees, power lines across region

Thunderstorms hit south-central Kansas and northern Missouri overnight, downing power lines and damaging some homes.

National Weather Service meteorologist Eric Schminke said wind gusts of 60 to 65 mph were reported in Wichita, Kan., and surrounding cities Sunday night.

Westar Energy reported about 2,800 customers without power around Kansas early Monday.

In Lake Viking, Mo., residents reported hail damage to homes and trees, but no injuries.
