Interstate 35 slated for closure this week in southwest Johnson County

Starting this evening, Interstate 35 will be closed overnight to drivers in southwest Johnson County for most of the week.

The interstate will be closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. today through Friday between U.S. 56 in Gardner and U.S. 169 in Olathe so work can move ahead on a new interchange at Lone Elm Road. The interstate also will be closed to traffic from 10 p.m. Friday until 8 a.m. Saturday.

Southbound drivers can exit at U.S. 169/Kansas 7 and head south to 175th Street and then west back to I-35. Northbound traffic can take 175th Street east to U.S. 169/K-7 and then north back to I-35. A detour will be marked.
