The Kansas athletic department has begun selling tickets to the Insight Bowl, which will be played Dec. 31 in Tempe, Ariz., against a Big Ten team to be determined.
“It is all but certain that Kansas will be playing in the Insight Bowl,” Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe said.
“Formal Big 12 procedures prevent the conference from making an official announcement until Sunday afternoon. We are aware that fans from all of our schools, including Kansas, want to begin making plans to attend these contests.”
It may not be official, but the Jayhawks were confident enough to hold a press conference on Friday with KU coach Mark Mangino and players to discuss the Insight Bowl bid. The Jayhawks will play in a bowl game in consecutive seasons for the first time in school history.
