Bomb scare evacuates pork plant

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. | A bogus bomb threat forces the evacuation of a St. Joseph pork processing plant.

Police in Kansas City got an anonymous call early Friday saying there was a bomb in the Triumph Foods plant.

St. Joseph police were notified. Employees were evacuated while emergency workers and Triumph staff searched the plant. Nearby streets also were blocked off while police investigated.

No bomb or explosives turned up and the plant reopened around 3 p.m. Friday.

About 2,600 people work at Triumph Foods.
