Former Gore aide to lead Missouri governor transition

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. _ Former Vice President Al Gore's chief of staff will lead the transition team for Missouri Gov.-elect Jay Nixon.

Charles Burson, who also was Gore's general counsel, was selected Friday to be the transition director for Nixon's administration. Burson teaches at the Washington University School of Law and is an attorney for the Bryan Cave law firm.

Nixon, a Democrat, also announced that his gubernatorial chief of staff will be John Watson, who holds the same position for Nixon in the attorney general's office.

The other transition leaders will be former Missouri Supreme Court Judge Ronnie White, Springfield businesswoman Nadia Cavner and former state lawmaker Phil Snowden.
