An agency that helps homeless families in Clay, Platte, Jackson and Wyandotte counties has received a $390,000 Affordable Housing Program grant.
Hillcrest Transitional Housing, which provides 90-day transitional housing as well as life skills, employment and other services, received the grant from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Iowa, under the sponsorship of Clay County Savings Bank.
It is the second grant Hillcrest Transitional Housing has received to help acquire a multi-unit building in Avondale. The building will be renovated as transitional housing for the homeless.
Clay County Savings Bank has also pledged $20,000 toward the Freedom House campaign for space for area nonprofit charitable organizations.
