Two Kansas City, Kan., firefighters were hurt overnight while fighting a fire at a two-story vacant house.
The fire was reported about 11:40 p.m. Monday at 924 Orville Ave. in northeast Kansas City, Kan. When firefighters arrived, they found thick smoke pouring from the upper floor. The fire spread into the attic area and flames were visible.
The fire was reported out at 1:15 a.m. One firefighter suffered minor burns to the neck and face and was able to return to work. Another firefighter suffered a dislocated or fractured finger. The firefighter was treated and released.
The cause of the fire is under investigation and is considered suspicious. The fire caused about $20,000 in damages.
