Wrecks snarl early rush hour

Early morning accidents caused injuries and traffic backups today in south Kansas City and in Johnson County.

A one-vehicle wreck at 6:30 a.m. at Interstate 35 and College Boulevard in Lenexa is being investigated by the Kansas Highway Patrol. A passenger is believed to have minor injuries, said a Lenexa police dispatcher.

The Kansas City Police Department responded to an accident at 6:59 a.m. at northbound U.S. 71 and Longview Road, a police dispatcher said. Injuries were reported but were not believed to be major, the dispatcher said.

Traffic backed up on northbound U.S. 71 because of the wreck.
