Very, very bad news for drivers who need to get in and out of Leavenworth on Monday morning.
The Centennial Bridge, which carries Kansas 92 across the Missouri River to Platte County, will close at 8:30 for a routine bridge inspection. Highway officials promise it will be open by 2:30 in the afternoon. The closure could affect drivers who need to get to and from Kansas City International Airport.
The bridge will be reduced to one lane starting Tuesday and last through June 16. The bridge will only be down to one lane from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
The bridge was built in 1956 and it's expected to need work in the near future. The cost of replacing it is estimated at $41.4 million.
