The ramp from southbound Interstate 29/35 to Paseo Boulevard and Independence Avenue was expected to close for about a year starting shortly after 8:30 a.m. today.
Highway crews will start grading under the Paseo ramp so they can build a new ramp for drivers to access northbound I-35 at that location. The ramp from northbound Paseo to I-29/35 closed last August and won’t reopen until 2010. The work is part of the project to build a new bridge and widen I-29/35 to three lanes in each direction.
Motorists are advised to get off the interstate at the Oak/Grand/Walnut Street exit (2F) and take the Oak ramp up to Admiral Boulevard. At the light, motorists should turn east onto Admiral and take Admiral to Paseo Boulevard where they will turn north to reach Independence Avenue/Route 24.
For motorists taking the southbound alternate Missouri River route from Burlington Avenue/Route 9, they will continue south to Admiral Boulevard and turn east to Paseo Boulevard, then north to reach the Independence Avenue intersection.
