JEFFERSON CITY | Gov. Jay Nixon has asked for more federal help to repair infrastructure damage in 46 counties hit by severe storms earlier this month.
Nixon already has asked the federal government for a disaster declaration.
Nixon's office said damage to public property and infrastructure from storms earlier this month exceeded $48.7 million in the 46 counties.
That includes damage to public utilities and electric cooperatives, estimated at more than $37 million.
Power was finally restored over Memorial Day weekend.
Nixon said the aid would help reimburse local governments for damaged public property, infrastructure and public utilities, and for emergency protective actions.
