Neighbor's call leads to 3 arrests, seizure of drugs, guns and cash

A Kansas City man who saw suspicious activity on his street helped police catch three men in a house filled with drugs, guns and $24,000 in cash.

Officers surrounded the house in the 3900 block of East 58th Terrace about 11 p.m. Thursday, after the neighbor reported a disturbance and a gun shot there, according to a police report.

A police dog helped capture one man who bolted from the house with a bag of marijuana, the report said.

Officers found two handguns next to the marijuana, which the suspect apparently threw in some nearby woods as he ran.

A second man tried to get away by breaking out a bathroom window, but an awaiting sergeant shot him with a Taser.

Police got permission to search the house from the third suspect, who was listed as owning it, as well as a purple Hummer and a silver Mercedes parked outside, according to the report.

Inside, they found a ballistic vest, two more handguns, ammunition, industrial shrink wrap, scales and five bundles of marijuana in a diaper box.

Police also seized $1,000 from a shoe in a bedroom, $13,000 from a bag in another bedroom and $10,000 from a briefcase in the living room.

All three suspects were taken into custody.
