Former University of Missouri system president lands New Mexico position

LAS CRUCES, N.M. | New Mexico State University's regents on Tuesday named a new interim president, Manuel T. Pacheco.

Pacheco served as president of the four-campus University of Missouri system from 1997 through 2002. He retired from the Missouri job in 2003 and currently lives in Arizona.

Pacheco is also a former president of the University of Arizona, the University of Houston-Downtown and Laredo State University. In 2006, he served as interim president of New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas.

Pacheco has a bachelor's degree from New Mexico Highlands and a doctorate from Ohio State University.
