The bad weather Friday night led to the diversion of a US Airways flight with 86 passengers from Kansas City International Airport to a landing field in Johnson County.
According to the Johnson County Sheriff's office, the plane had been in the air for about six hours when it was diverted from KCI to New Century AirCenter near Gardner.
Some passengers deboarded at New Century, the sheriff's office said. After a short wait, the plane flew to KCI.
