New terminal opens at Springfield airport

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. | A new terminal at the Springfield-Branson National Airport opens this week.

The Midfield Terminal opens on Wednesday as the current 44-year-old airport terminal closes.

Officials broke ground on the nearly $117 million project in 2006, using a combination on revenue bonds issued by the airport and $20 million in discretionary federal aviation funds.

The airport is supplying a free parking shuttle to help people who used the old terminal to fly out.

Allegiant Air, American Airlines, Delta Airlines and United Airlines will operate out of new terminal.
