Woman struck by falling crutch in Missouri Capitol

JEFFERSON CITY | A woman has been struck in the head by a falling crutch at the Missouri Capitol.

A tour group was visiting the Whispering Gallery high in the Capitol dome around 11:30 a.m. Thursday when a student dropped a crutch. The crutch hit a woman who was standing in the Third Floor Rotunda.

Capitol Police officer Dan Sakkinen said the woman is in good condition and is coherent. She was taken by a friend to St. Mary's Health Center in Jefferson City.

The name and other demographic information about the woman were not immediately available.
