The lowest legal minimum wage in the nation will rise on Jan. 1, 2010, according to a bill signed today by Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.
“This legislation is long overdue and I am so grateful of the legislators, business leaders and working Kansans who helped make this possible,” Sebelius said.
Fewer than 20,000 Kansas workers are believed to be paid the state minimum of $2.65 an hour. It applies to workers not currently covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act.
