Ransom sought after dogs stolen in Missouri

FARMINGTON, Mo. | Authorities are investigating a report that someone stole an eastern Missouri woman's dogs and left a ransom note demanding cash for their safe return.

Anna Madsen runs the Love a Dog Rescue and Sanctuary near Farmington. The 64-year-old woman says she fears not only for her dogs but for her own life.

Madsen says she arrived home Saturday night to find her house in disarray. She says she found one of her old bank statements and ransom note stuck to a wall with a knife.

The note said six of her dogs had been taken and demanded six figures in cash or the dogs would be killed.

Authorities aren't saying much about the investigation. There are no suspects.
