Authorities have shut down traffic along the Paseo Bridge after an 8-inch natural gas line was ruptured.
A contractor working on the bridge hit the natural gas line just after 2:30 p.m. Crews with Missouri Gas Energy are making repairs, said Jason Fulp, a spokesman.
Fulp said he did not know how long the repairs would take or how long traffic along the bridge will be diverted.
Details on how the rupture occurred were not immediately available. Police from Kansas City and North Kansas City were diverting traffic from the bridge.
